Kerner is this neat little varietal that’s actually a hybrid of Riesling and Schiava and nobody grows it better than Abbazia di Novacella. Novacella is a tiny little property in the Isarco valley that’s a farm; a boarding school, a monestary; a museum, and even a perfectly preserved example of medieval architecture. Oh, and they also just happen to be the oldest continuously operating winery in the world. This wine is a lovely and aromatic white wine that boasts notes of red apple and peach on the nose with a succulent juiciness on the palate.
