Grape: Tempranillo
Tasting Notes: Blackberry, Baking Spices, Earth, Oak
Numancia was an ancient city, whose people heroically resisted the Romans for 20 years and died rather than surrender. From this epic heritage, Numanthia, founded in 1998, has kept tenacity and resistance, two characteristics of the Toro vineyards that survive both extreme climatic conditions and phylloxera. “Toro wines are like bulls, beautiful and round on the outside, muscular and intense on the inside.” Numanthia is part of the LVMH family.
This wine perfectly expresses the Toro region. The palate is plush, concentrated, with flavors of blackberry, plum, cinnamon, leather, eucalyptus, menthol, and tobacco slathered with espresso, soil and smoke. Full bodied, powerful yet elegant with fresh acidity and a clean, flavorful finish. Needs a bit of time because the tannins are not fully integrated right now. Superb with aged cheeses or grilled red meats.
