Shop > Felino Vina Cobos Cabernet Sauvignon

Paul Hobbes was head winemaker at Opus and Simi before striking out on his own. In addition to his wonderful – and expensive - California wines, Hobbes has consulted with numerous wineries (Peter Michael, Fisher, Lewis, and Catena) and is especially active in Argentina where he is the owner of Viña Cobos. This winery produces three tiers of wines. Felino is their entry level label. Felino Cab is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Luján de Cuyo and Maipú vineyards between 2,637 and 3,513 feet in elevation. The yield from the various plots ranges from 1.56 to 4.68 tons per acre. Selected and native yeasts are used for fermentation (2-3 day cold soak, 16 days total maceration), and the wine is aged in mostly used barrels and bottled unfined. It shows elegance, medium body, delicacy, and relatively low alcohol. There is vivacious and expressive fruit with balanced acidity and aromatic richness. This is a lot of Cabernet for the money.
