A rare Cabernet that punches way above its price point; it's full of "new world" richness and charm, but bears an unmistakable Bordelaise influence. The domaine's current owner, Madame May-Eliane de Lencquesaing ("Lady May"), formerly managed Château Pichon Longueville Lalande in Pauillac. Located on the southern slopes of the Simonsberg mountains in Stellenbosch, Glenelly Estate has a remarkable terroir with ancient granitic soils, morning sun, and ample access to water. The climate is mediterranean with cooling influences. All grapes are handpicked and sorted. After fermentation via native yeast, this wine underwent elevate for 12 months in barrel, resulting in well-integrated oak flavors and an elegant structure. The 2018 Glass Collection Cabernet features aromas and flavors of coffee bean, violet, mint, blackcurrant, cigar box, cedar, dried herbs, and dried black cherry. The palate is elegant and understated with pure fruit, fine tannins and a long finish.
