Lapierre’s Vin de France, called Raisins Gaulois, is 100% Gamay from within the Cru of Morgon, but it doesn’t meet the qualifications for Cru status due to the higher-yielding vineyards they harvest from. The high yields prevent excessive concentration and the resulting wine is an easy-drinking, lower alcohol red that’s absolutely PERFECT with a backyard cookout. Vibrant and eminently quaffable, and easy on the wallet.
