As summer winds down and fall approaches, bringing with it Bourbon Hunting Season 2023, Heaven Hill has announced the Spring 2023 Edition of the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Series.
Comprised of barrels produced during the spring season lasting from January to June of 2013, and bottled in the spring of 2023, the eleventh national release in this line is a 10-year-old expression.
Bottled in a decanter, the spring edition comes denoted by a green label, as always.
As is also the case for past iterations, this edition’s tax strip, which has always been a signature of transparency on bottled-in-bond products, discloses when the liquid was produced and bottled.
The Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond spring edition meets strict requirements of a bottled-in-bond: the product of a single distillery from a single distilling season, aged a minimum of four years, and bottled at 100 proof.
On the nose is brown sugar and molasses, in addition to light baking spices with orange peel, the company reports. The palate brings butterscotch, subtle oak and cloves, before a finish with tannins and a peppery tingle, followed by a hint of barrel char.
