Family-owned RJ Vinedos is run by its founder, Raul Joffre, and his four daughters. In 1996 Raul purchased a traditional cement tank winery in the Perdriel region of Lujan de Cuyo and a small vineyard in the Los Sauces region of the Uco Valley. There are now 60 hectares in the Uco Valley as well as holdings in Alto Agrelo and in the Calchaquíes de Cafayate Valley of la Salta. The vineyards are all sustainably farmed, and no chemicals are used in the vineyards or the winery. Winemaker Mariano Cignoli has a minimalistic approach and looks for purity of fruit with little intervention. The grapes are hand-harvested. The wine has a deep, concentrated red color with purple hints and is very expressive with ripe, fruity aromas of plum and cherry as well as notes of chocolate. Reunión Malbec is soft and round on the palate with velvety and mature tannins. It is full-bodied, well-balanced, and has a relatively long finish.
