It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving season without a little Riesling, so we’re getting this started with a tried and true offering from St Urbans-Hof. Founded in 1947, the winery is now run by the third generation of the Weis family, who themselves trace their roots in the region back more than 200 years. Sourced from vines planted more than a century ago along the steep slopes of the Mosel & Saar rivers this wine offers an intense aromatic profile of apples, tropical fruits, white flowers, and a subtle mineral edge. On the palate, this wine is smooth and fruity with just a hint of residual sugar to give the fruit a little texture and weight. Riesling’s naturally high acidity gives this wine a clean, bright finish. A perfect accompaniment to the rich foods that grace the Thanksgiving table, this makes for a delicious wine just about any time.
