Established in 1452, the original purpose of this winery was to provide revenue for the hospital in Krems. Since 2003 many Stadt Krems vineyards have been replanted and revitalized and the cellar has undergone a renovation and expansion. Fritz Miesbauer and his team aim to produce wines with a clean fresh profile that are enjoyable to drink, and are typical of the region. Farming practices are ‘Certified Sustainable,’ and the estate belongs to the prestigious Traditionsweingüter.
The Weingut Stadt Krems Gruner Veltliner has knife-edge of acidity is light bodied, and clean, with ample richness and a long, dry finish. The palate adds yeasty creaminess to the lemon, grapefruit, crushed slate, spicy pear, mineral. radish, arugula, and apple flavors with hints of petrol. It's an ideal partner to mildly spiced Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese dishes as well as fish and shellfish dishes.
